Welcome Home Troops at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Written by on March 6, 2018

We’d like to Thank Welcome Home Troops organization, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and all the incredible Sponsor for putting together such a great group of people and other Veterans associations this past weekend at the Pennzoil 400. This was the definitive NASCAR Las Vegas Spring Event Welcome Home Troops’ Tailgate Party with all the right stuff – Grills were full torque turning out hundreds if not thousands of Hamburgers and Hot dogs throughout the day and tables full of all the fixings to go along. Live Music and Entertainment began early and played right up until start time of the races. If you were there, you saw some good old friends and even made some new ones, shared in some witty banter and had a chance to shake a leg to some great tunes.

Here are a few great shots from the day… much more to come.

The ever exuberant and extremely talented D’nese Davis and Ed Hall with Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

The VTRC – Veterans Transition Resource Center Booth represented proudly by our Local Boys with Neil Johnson, Marty Barrett, and RJ Dough (from left to right).

And the bands jammed on…

and on…

and on…

Until there were none…

To quote the opening verse from Jackson Browne’s ‘The Load Out’…

“Now the seats are all empty
Let the roadies take the stage
Pack it up and tear it down
They’re the first to come and last to leave
Working for that minimum wage
They’ll set it up in another town
Tonight the people were so fine
They waited there in line
And when they got up on their feet they made the show
And that was sweet,
But I can hear the sound
Of slamming doors and folding chairs
And that’s a sound they’ll never know…”

Next post, ‘Let the races begin…’,  with be some great shots of some of our boys on the inside.

Until next time, please listen to Veteran’s Talk – The Forgotten Promise every week Saturdays at 12 noon – 1 pm PST and on I HEART RADIO app under ‘VETS TALK’ Podcast!
