CLEANING WITH ESSENTIAL OILS…PLUS RECIPES!

According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, the air inside our homes is 200-500 percent MORE polluted than the air outside! Does this disgust anyone else? I don’t know about you, but I just opened some windows in my house. One of the big reasons for this problem is because of toxic household cleaning products. Most cleaning products you buy at the store contain very dangerous and harmful chemicals that can cause short- and long-term health problems when you use them. But fear not…there’s a solution! Essential oils can clean just as efficiently (if not more) as store-bought cleaners, plus they’re environmentally friendly, 100% safe for kids and pets, and cost-effective! Here are some of our favorite oils to use for cleaning, plus some awesome recipes!
Lemon is great for dissolving sticky residue (like from those pesky product stickers), it polishes chrome beautifully, and removes crayon and marker from walls and other surfaces! Be sure to dilute before using on wood or other sensitive surfaces. Lemon is antibacterial, anti-fungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, and antiseptic.
Wild Orange is great for those tough grease jobs! It will also add a nice shine when you clean. It is antibacterial, anti-fungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, and antiseptic.
Mist this relaxing scent onto bedding for a good night’s sleep. You can also add it to your wool dryer balls for a nice refreshing laundry scent! Lavender is also naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal.
Cinnamon Bark oil not only smells amazing, but it packs a powerful cleaning punch! Diffuse to clean the air in your home. Cinnamon is antiviral and antiseptic, making it a great addition to your cleaning supply.
Seriously, is there anything this oil can’t do? Melaleuca, also known as Tea Tree Oil, fights germs, bacteria and viruses. It’s great to use for the bathroom and fights hard surfaces with ease.
Eucalyptus is great to add to your washing machine to freshen bedding. It has a very clean scent and is also a natural germicide.
Oregano is a very strong oil that basically kills anything in its path. It is great for toilet bowls and to mist onto mildewy surfaces. It’s antimicrobial, making it great for kitchen cleaning.
Thyme has a lot of the same qualities as oregano, which means it’s also good for cleaning bathrooms and kitchens! It’s also one of the most powerful oils against germs.
Rosemary degreases surfaces, refreshes musty smelling laundry and washing machines, and is a great all-around cleaner due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
Not only is Peppermint oil great for cleaning with its antibacterial properties, but it deters spiders and ants! Mist in their hiding places to rid your home of the unwanted pests.
